Funeral services for Mrs. Mary E. Caldwell, 79, of Shelbina, were held at the 
family residence Saturday afternoon with the Rev. J. L. Shoemaker officiating. 
Burial was in the Shelbina I. O. O. F. Cemetery. Mrs. Caldwell died Thursday 
noon in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Hannibal. She underwent major surgery on 
Wednesday and had been ill for two weeks.

She was born near Leonard on October 30, 1870, a daughter of Preston Allen 
and Elizabeth Allen Wright. Early in life she married Brice Caldwell, who died 
Aug 24, 1934. The couple came to Shelbina forty-one years ago. She was a 
member of the Shelbina Christian church. Survivors include one daughter, Miss 
Mae Caldwell, of Shelbina; a sister, Mrs. Paul King, of Shelbina, and a 
brother, Pearl Wright, of St. Louis.
