WILLIAM GERMAN Buried in Cuba Cemetery, Cuba, NY. OBITUARY: On Saturday, August 10, 1907, in the town of Clarksville, where he had lived and labored nearly his lifetime, William German ascended to the higher life. Born in Seneca county, NY he came when but a boy to Allegany county and took up his residence here. In 1846 he married Lois Ann Hiccox. They were blessed with a family of six children, three boys and three girls, LeGrand and Jefferson of Kansas City, Mesdames David Thompson, Mary Sykes, of Cuba, and F. N. Grove, of Friendship, and his son Frank with whom he lived on the farm which he had cultivated for fifty-eight years out of a life time of eighty-two years. The partner of life joys and sorrows, his beloved wife Lois, went on before him into that better country fifteen years ago. Mr. German was the last of a family of four girls and five boys. His brother's widow, Mrs. Reuben German, is now a resident of Cuba. William German was in his daily life beyond reproach, an exemplary citizen, good neighbor, kind friend. His religious views were liberal and his faith in the final restoration of all souls to holiness and happiness firm and most comforting. The community loses but our loss is his gain. May those who knew him profit by his example and so shall his mission be fulfilled. Funeral services were held Monday at 11 a.m. at the house, Rev. G. W. Raeburn of Friendship, officiating. Interment in Cuba.
